Commencing Friday 11 June 2010, South Africa will host the biggest sporting event in the world - the FIFA World Cup™ and SBS will broadcast the tournament LIVE to Australian audiences.
In 2006, more than 8.8 million people (63% of the population) in five metro cities tuned into SBS' live coverage of the FIFA World Cup from Germany as the Socceroos made their second FIFA World Cup™ appearance since the tournament's inception in 1930 - 35 years after their finals debut in 1974.
In 2010 the Socceroos make their third FIFA World Cup™ appearance and for 4 weeks Australia's football frenzy will hit new heights with audiences staying up to watch the matches.
SBS will be following Australia's Socceroos at every step, with a comprehensive schedule of live matches, repeats, highlights and other quality football programming during The World Cup™. In addition, SBS Radio will broadcast matches in 10 languages including English and the audio will be streamed online.
